Do you have camping reservations yet? These items will improve your camping experience.

Maybe you’ve tried Backyard Camping (find my articles here, Part 1 and here, Part 2). Or maybe you are planning to Backyard Camp soon! Or maybe you’ve camped in your living room.

During this quarantine we’ve all had to find ways of being creative with our outdoor time.

On the scale of safe activities during a pandemic, camping is pretty safe. Check out my article on Coronavirus camping safety tips here.

When you are free to travel and camp consider this list in your camping preparation plans. We have found these items to be a great addition to our camping supplies and we think they will take your camping trip to the next level of comfort and fun.

1. Solar lights: These just make camping so dreamy. Of course they aren’t essential but they don’t take up much room, are inexpensive, and they add so much cozy inviting ambiance to your camp. You will be happy you have them.

We got these for inside our tent and it is so magical:

2. Scrubber: Yes I know it’s small but it makes washing the dishes much more delightful, so why not add it to your permanent camping kitchen supplies. We used to bring a regular kitchen sponge and soap, but this is more convenient and easier to use. There are many variations to choose from, but making your kitchen clean up easier is always a YES!

3. Hanging shoe organizer– Yessssssss! That’s right, a shoe organizer…but not for shoes! When you buy this and hang it up in camp you will be so excited to have everything you need right there in plain sight AND out of the way and off your camp table. We hang ours from a canopy to hold everything from spices and snacks, to sunblock and card games.

4. Travel toothbrushes– Ok, these are a game changer!!! They are so easy and convenient and they actually clean your teeth really well. No more spitting toothpaste in the bushes, or getting your camping slippers wet when rinsing your toothbrush. Seriously…get them. They are great for the car too. And my kids love them. Have I convinced you?

5. 52 oz French press– This is my favorite thing by far that we’ve added to our camping experience. For coffee lovers the 52 oz size is amazing! Especially if your spouse/partner/friends like coffee too. And the double walled insulated skin keeps the coffee hot much longer than the glass French press! Seriously, get it.

6. Kitchen kit If you’re anything like us, when you go camping you end up packing items out of your kitchen to make camping meals. And usually we end up forgetting a knife or a spatula. We got this kit for our last camping trip to Joshua Tree and has made a big difference ever since. It’s so nice to know we have many of the kitchen utensils we needed already in our camping supplies. I LOVE this!

7. Shoe Basket – I love having this basket outside or just inside our tent for our shoes. It adds a comfy, homey feeling to our tent. This is the exact basket we have and we bring it on every camping trip. Then at the end of the trip we pile all of our dirty laundry into it and take it right to the washing machine!

8. Turkish Towels – These beautiful towels are extremely lightweight and dry much quicker than traditional beach towels. They are the perfect camping towel. A friend of mine who we camp with has them and they have been on my wishlist for a while! I’m getting them for our next trip for sure!

9. Sand blanket – This thing is the real deal. Military grade sand blanket, ideal for summer beach trips, or beach camping. The sand goes right through from top to bottom, but it can’t come back up. My husband doesn’t like the sand and this made the beach much more enjoyable for him. We bring it on every camping trip whether it’s at the beach or not. It is worth the money 100%.

10. Rug for out front of your tent – There are so many options for this but whatever you choose, if you don’t already have a rug out the front door of your tent, you need one. We have something like this that is inexpensive that we use only for camping. It’s lasted for over 10 years. We just shake it out and roll it back up at the end of each trip. It’s so nice to have something to wipe your feet on so you don’t get dirt in your tent.

I hope this list helps you improve your camping experience. Comment below if you already have some of these items or if you are considering getting some. Or if you have any suggestions for me let me know!!

Happy Camping!
